1. Who we are
Global Education Program ("GEP," "we," "us," "our") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides online Nepali language education to children. GEP operates as an initiative of GBLO.

GEP operates fully online. We do not have a public office or physical visiting location.
This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what rights you have. It applies to www.ourgep.org and to our online classes and programs.
2. Short version
We collect what we need to run a class and nothing more. We do not sell personal information. We do not run advertising on this site. We do not record our classes. We do not publish a child's photograph without written permission from a parent, and that permission can be withdrawn at any time.
3. Information we collect
From parents and guardians: name; email address; phone number; city, state, and country; your relationship to the student; any information you choose to include in a message.
About students: the child's first and last name; the child's age or grade level; the child's current level of Nepali; class attendance and progress notes; work the child submits as part of class. We collect this information from the parent or guardian, not from the child.
From volunteers and teachers: name, email, phone, and location; background, availability, and areas of interest.
From donors: name, email, mailing address, and donation amount. Payment information is collected and processed by our payment processor. GEP does not receive or store full card numbers or bank account numbers.
Automatically, when you visit the site: IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser and device type; pages viewed, time on page, and the site you arrived from. See the Cookie Policy for detail.
What we do not collect: We do not ask for Social Security numbers, immigration status, financial account details, health information, or any government identification. If you send any of this to us, we will delete it.
4. How we use information
- To enroll students and place them in the right class level
- To run classes and communicate with families about schedules, materials, and changes
- To send occasional updates about GEP programs and events
- To recruit, screen, and coordinate volunteers
- To process donations and issue tax receipts
- To meet legal, tax, and grant reporting obligations
- To understand how the website is used, so we can improve it
We do not use personal information for targeted advertising. We do not build profiles of children for any commercial purpose.
5. Children's privacy
This section governs. Where anything else in this policy conflicts with it, this section applies.
GEP serves children, including children under 13. We follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
5.1 We collect children's information only from a parent or guardian. Our enrollment form is for adults. Children do not create accounts on this website and are not asked to submit information through it.
5.2 We ask for verifiable parental consent before a child participates. You give this consent when you complete and submit the enrollment form.
5.3 We collect only what a class requires: a child's name, age, and level of Nepali. We do not condition a child's participation on providing more than that.
5.4 Class sessions take place over video. A child's image and voice are visible to their teacher and to other students in the class. Teachers are required to keep student information confidential.
5.5 GEP does not record class sessions. Teachers, students, and families may not record, screenshot, or otherwise capture a class session without written permission from GEP and from every family in that class.
5.6 We do not publish a photograph or video of a child on our website, social media, or printed materials without separate written permission from a parent or guardian. That permission is requested through our Photo, Video and Recording Consent Form, and is separate from enrollment. Declining costs your child nothing. Where we publish a child's photograph with permission, we use the child's first name only, or no name. We never publish a child's full name alongside their photograph. We remove location data from images before publishing.
You may withdraw photo permission at any time by writing to gblo.org@gmail.com. We will remove the material from our website and social media within 10 business days. Material already downloaded or reshared by others may be beyond our control, and we will tell you honestly if that is the case.
5.7 As the parent or guardian of an enrolled child, you may at any time review the personal information we hold about your child, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or refuse to allow further collection or use of your child's information. Exercising any of these rights will not remove your child from class, except where deleting the information makes participation impossible, in which case we will explain that to you before acting. To make a request, write to gblo.org@gmail.com or call 817-210-7162. We will verify that you are the child's parent or guardian before acting, and we will respond within 30 days.
5.8 We do not sell or disclose children's information to third parties for their own purposes, and we never disclose it for advertising or marketing.
6. How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We do not rent, trade, or share it for anyone else's marketing.
We share information only in these circumstances: with the service providers who run the tools we use (video conferencing, email, form hosting, website hosting, payment processing, and website analytics), who may use the information only to provide that service to us; where required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to comply with tax and nonprofit reporting obligations; where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect a child from harm, including that in some circumstances we are required by law to report suspected abuse or neglect and will do so; and with your permission.
7. Third-party services we use
We use trusted third-party services to run our programs: a video conferencing platform for classes, an email service, a form provider for enrollment and volunteer sign-ups, a website host, a payment processor for donations, and a website analytics tool. Each of these providers processes information only to deliver its service to GEP, under its own privacy policy. We do not allow any of them to use your information for their own marketing.
8. How long we keep information
- Student enrollment records: three years after the student's last term
- Attendance and progress notes: three years
- Published photographs: until permission is withdrawn
- Volunteer applications: two years
- Donation records: seven years, as required for tax purposes
- Website analytics: 14 months
- Email correspondence: two years
When a retention period ends, we delete the information or remove anything that identifies a person.
9. Security
We limit access to personal information to the volunteers and staff who need it. We use password-protected accounts, keep student information off personal devices where possible, and ask teachers to keep family information confidential.
No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
10. Your rights
All families. You may ask us what information we hold about you or your child, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and opt out of our emails at any time. Write to gblo.org@gmail.com.
Residents of certain US states. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, including the right to know what personal information we have collected, the right to have it deleted, the right to correct it, and the right to opt out of sale or targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for targeted advertising. To exercise any of these rights, write to gblo.org@gmail.com. We will not treat you differently for doing so.
Families outside the United States. GEP welcomes students from around the world. Our website and classes are operated from the United States, and the information we collect is stored and processed in the United States. By enrolling from outside the United States, you consent to your information being transferred to and processed there. If you live in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, or another region with data protection laws, you may have additional rights under your local law, including the rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your information, and to withdraw consent. Our legal basis for handling your information is the consent you give at enrollment and the need to provide the classes you have signed up for. 11. Where information is held
GEP operates from the United States, and the information we collect is stored and processed in the United States.
12. Links to other sites
Our site links to gblo.org and to other organizations. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Read their policies before giving them information.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top. If we make a change that materially affects how we handle children's information, we will notify parents directly by email and, where the law requires it, obtain fresh consent. We will not apply a material change retroactively to information already collected without telling you.
